Driving a BMW is probably one of the best things to do. From the moment you see the car you are captivated and things just get better and better after that. Everyone’s eyes are on you and there is nothing that can stop you. Nothing but a stop sign, I am afraid. A beast like this was not made for the city. It needs the highway to breathe and set free.
As soon as I laid eyes on the BMW M340i I knew this thing was fast. Its outline was slender and aerodynamic, with BMW’s characteristic front. I thought the car could not be closer to the ground but when I got in I was practically sitting on the floor. Then I started the engine and even the sound promised a one-of-a-kind driving experience. After I managed to sort my way out of the city’s insane traffic, I reached the open road and was capable of taking the BMW to its limits.
The acceleration is beyond powerful. The six-cylinder, bi-turbo engine has an output of 431hp and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1s. Even the slightest pressure on the pedal makes a difference and once the car gets going you will not ever want it to stop. Getting past the 150 km/h mark its kids’ play, allowing the Beamer to cruise effortlessly. The brakes are quite responsive as well though you might need to remember how fast you are going to apply pressure accordingly. Its handling supports the powerful engine quite well, so you will feel completely safe even cruising at 180 or 200 km/h.
Talking about safety, even at night you will find the M340i to be an excellent partner. The LED headlights are powerful and the automated system reacts immediately once it starts to get dark.
But power is not the only thing BMW put into the M340i. Its interior is clean cut and truly appealing. Once you are in the driver seat, the leather accommodates your body perfectly as if preparing for the long hours you will surely want to spend driving. Every control is within reach and the central dashboard is controlled with just a few buttons next to the gear stick.
The infotainment system is unfortunately a bit hard to understand for the inexperienced. It takes a couple or maybe a couple dozen attempts to find the right option and pairing your smartphone is no easy feat either. However, all efforts pay off once you are cruising on the highway listening to your favorite tunes. However, even though the 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system is amazing for such a small car, you might prefer to dial it down and just enjoy the sound coming from the engine.
With the M340i, even after reaching your destination I bet you will want the road to keep going and going.
